CHOICES Shop Honoured

CHOICES shop was started in 1993 to provide good quality 2nd hand clothes and other goods to the Community.  CHOICES represents what churches can do if they work together for a common purpose

.

Since starting CHOICES had sales of excess of £1.2 million.  After deducting shop costs, rent, heating & repairs it has made a surplus of £850K. We have been able to use this to support local and wider causes. These include Christian Aid, Food Bank, St Andrews Hospice and many more.  However our biggest beneficiary has been StreetLevel Youth Project which has received £600k to date.

It should be remembered the shop is run entirely by unpaid volunteers who give their time to help the community.  Many of the staff have worked for over 20 years and some 30 years.  This shows the ethos of choices: Churches Helping Others In Community Evangelistic Service.

On Friday 14 November 2025, it was announced that CHOICES has been honoured with the King's Award for Voluntary Service, the highest recognition a local voluntary organisation can receive in the UK, the equivalent to an MBE awarded to a person.  We are truly honoured and thrilled to receive this recognition.  A certificate signed by the King and a commemorative piece of glassware will be presented to the shop in due course by the Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Isobel and all her staff for there dedication and to thank all our loyal customers who make it all worth while.
